Georgi Dzhikiya to make a loan move to FC Spartak Moscow
Georgi Dzhikiya has agreed to a loan move to FC Spartak Moscow
The defender will move from FC Khimki to the Muscovites until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
Dzhikiya has been a key player for Khimki since joining the club in 2020, making 45 appearances and scoring 3 goals.
The Russian international has also been capped 43 times by his country, and was part of the squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
FC Spartak Moscow are currently 6th in the Russian Premier League
They have won 9 of their 19 games this season, and are 9 points behind leaders Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Dzhikiya's arrival is expected to bolster Spartak's defence, which has conceded 24 goals in 19 games this season.
The move could help Dzhikiya earn a place in Russia's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
The 28-year-old has not been a regular starter for Russia in recent months, but a successful loan spell at Spartak could see him force his way back into the team.
The World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
