A celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer experiences
Over 100 film experts including critics, writers and programmers such as Joanna Hogg, Mark Cousins, Peter Strickland, Richard Dyer and B. Ruby Rich have selected their top 30 LGBTQ films to mark the 30th anniversary of BFI Flare: London LGBTQ+ Film Festival.
Our list of the 200 Best LGBTQ Movies of All Time stretches back 90 years to the pioneering German film Mädchen in Uniform, which was released in 1931. Love knows no bounds and neither does a great story. This collection of movies celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer experiences.
A screenwriter drawn back to his childhood home enters into a fledgling relationship with his next-door neighbor, who happens to be transgender, in A Fantastic Woman (2017). Moonlight (2016) is a deeply moving coming-of-age story about a young black man struggling with his sexuality. And The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) is a hilarious and heartwarming road trip movie about three drag queens traveling across Australia.
These are just a few of the many great LGBTQ films that have been made over the years. They are all worth watching, and they all have something important to say about the human experience.
