Derek Clancey, born April 16, 1969, in St. John's, Newfoundland, is a remarkable figure in the world of hockey. His impressive career spans both playing and coaching, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.

A Prolific Professional Career

Clancey's professional career began in 1991 and lasted until 1999. He played 441 games, mostly in the ECHL, where he amassed an astonishing 524 points (157 goals, 367 assists). His consistent performance earned him respect as one of the league's most prolific players.

Coaching Success

After retiring from playing, Clancey transitioned seamlessly into coaching. In 2021, he joined the Pittsburgh Penguins as Director of Pro Scouting, where he played a pivotal role in developing the team's scouting network and player evaluation strategies. His expertise and experience have been invaluable to the organization.

New Horizons in Toronto

Recently, Clancey announced his departure from the Penguins to join the Toronto Maple Leafs.
