Colorado Avalanche Force Game 4 with Overtime Win; Series Tied 2-2
The Colorado Avalanche staved off elimination on Wednesday night with a thrilling 4-3 overtime win against the Dallas Stars in Game 3 of their Western Conference Second Round series. The series is now tied 2-2 as the teams head back to Denver for Game 4 on Friday night.
The Avalanche fell behind early in the game, but they battled back to tie the score in the third period. Mikko Rantanen scored a power-play goal with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation to knot the game up at 3-3.
The game went to overtime, and it was Miles Wood who came up with the heroics for the Avalanche. Wood scored on a backhand shot just over a minute into overtime to give the Avalanche the win.
The Avalanche were led by Nathan MacKinnon, who had a goal and an assist. Rantanen and Wood each added a goal, while Evan Rodrigues also chipped in with an assist.
Jake Oettinger made 28 saves for the Stars, but it wasn't enough to get the win. Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz, and Jamie Benn scored goals for the Stars.
The Avalanche will now return to Denver for Game 4 on Friday night. The Stars will be looking to take a 3-2 series lead, while the Avalanche will be hoping to tie the series and send it back to Dallas for a Game 5.
