Karl-Anthony Towns Nearing Return for Timberwolves
All-Star Forward Set to Rejoin Team After Meniscus Surgery
The Minnesota Timberwolves announced on March 12th that All-Star forward Karl-Anthony Towns is expected to return to action in one of the team's final three regular season games. Towns underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on March 7th. Prior to the injury, Towns was averaging 24.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game for the Timberwolves.
Towns' return is a major boost for the Timberwolves, who are currently in the thick of a playoff race. Minnesota is currently seventh in the Western Conference standings, just one game behind the sixth-seeded Denver Nuggets. The Timberwolves have won five of their last six games and are looking to make a push for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Towns is one of the most talented young players in the NBA. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and has already made two All-Star teams. Towns is a skilled scorer and rebounder, and he can also pass the ball well. His return will give the Timberwolves a much-needed boost on both ends of the court.
The Timberwolves have three regular season games remaining: at the Milwaukee Bucks on March 14th, home against the Utah Jazz on March 15th, and at the Los Angeles Clippers on March 16th. Towns is expected to make his return in one of those games.
